The author seems to come close to identifying all the
claims made in the video. One
discrepancy was the financial gain was still being negotiated. The 50/50 split was on a previous
venture. I found no reference to
personal experiences in the report. This
is not a vessel I remember from History class; the video is my first
introduction to the downed ship. My
classmate did not make any judgment about the video reporter’s bias and/or
trustworthiness. I would use the
suggestions on how to give constructive criticism for this report. I started out with a positive statement that
the author did a good job of reporting all claims made in the video. I gave constructive criticism on help with
spelling and punctuation.
In 1744 a British
Ship names Victory sank in the English Channel. Gregg Stemm CEO and Chairman of
Odyssey Marine Exploration from Tampa, Florida was interviewed and commented
about the newly discovered remains of the shipwreck. Claims were made that the
ship was carrying close to 4 tons of gold; this would be almost 1 billion dollars
in today’s money. If the claim is true and gold is discovered the Odyssey
Marine Exploration would split the financial gains with the British Government
50/50. Gregg Stemm stated one of his company’s researchers discovered that the
ship was transporting gold from Lisbon to England, a common rout during this
period. My personal belief is there could a tremendous amount of sunken
treasure under the sea and the more technology advances the better the chances
are of discovering these treasures.
