Hello manager,
We have reached the end of our financial quarter.  My team has put in a lot of hard work to complete the current project.  Upon completion of our project, I have realized we have not reached our financial goal for the quarter.  I will be meeting with my team next week to discuss ways to ensure we reach our next financial goal.  I will notify you when the meeting is set if you would like to attend and give us any ideas you may have.

Hi Team,
We all did great work this quarter on the current project.  After reviewing our progress, it has been determined we did not met the financial goal for the quarter.  As a result, there will not be any bonuses given.  There will be a meeting next week for us to sit down together and discuss ways of improving our methods so we may meet future financial goals.

The letter to the travel agent explains the trip must be canceled and requests a refund. The letter to the travel agent is formal and direct.

Hello Linda,
I want to thank you for all your efforts in creating a wonderful European vacation.  Due to an unforeseen complication at work, I will be unable to take the vacation we have been planning for me.  If you will so kind as to cancel all plans and credit my account back for the deposit already given.  Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Sincerely,
