■ You
are at your graduation dinner. Your best friend or favorite relative
stands up and
talks about your five most significant strengths that
contributed to
your successful graduation from college. What do you
think they
are?
Hard worker,
Fast learner.
Persistent.
Love to learn.
Kids.
I think the most significant strength
that helped me successfully graduate from college is my persistence. I had persistence in pursuing my goal no
matter how difficult the path was to walk.
Another significant strength of mine is that I am a hard worker. I work
hard to achieve each and every one of my goals. Being a fast learner is definitely a plus
while pursuing my degree. I catch on
quickly to new ideas and am able to turn them around and use them for my
needs. My love to learn is another
strength that significantly helps contribute to my graduation. I enjoy learning new things and look for
opportunities to expand my knowledge and be a more valuable individual for
current and future employers. I would
have to say my kids are one of my most significant strengths that contributed
to my success. Without my kids, I would
never had the desire, the will, nor the ability to succeed at college.
■ You
are preparing your post-graduation resume and need to list your
college
contributions and achievements. What would you like them to be?
■ You
are prepping for an interview for a job in a field in which you have
had no
training or experience whatsoever. You decide to list for yourself
five
items—qualities, life events, or achievements—that will indicate to the
interviewer that you are prepared
to succeed in any field. What are they?
Finished
college while working and supporting a family.
Taken advantage of courses offered by employer.
Sucessfully getting GED 15years after dropping out of school.
Hard worker
Fast Learner

Five qualities or life events I have that
would show that I am prepared to succeed in any field would be that I am a fast
learner, a hard worker, I succeeded in getting my GED after dropping out of
school 15 years before, I managed to finish college while working full time and
supporting my family, and I always take advantage of any extra courses my
current employers have available. Being
a fast learner and a hard worker means I can learn new ideas and information
quickly and am able to turn around and apply it to my job with minimal
training. I work hard until I achieve my
goal no matter how difficult the path may be.
The fact that I went back after fifteen years to earn my GED and passed
without any classes shows my ability to retain knowledge for long periods of
time and that I am willing to constantly assimilate any new information that
can make me a more valuable employee. I
attended college while working full time and supporting my family shows I am
willing and capable of completing immense workloads, and in a timely manner. In
previous companies where they had extra training courses for their employees I
have always worked at completing as many courses as possible in order to make
myself a more valuable individual for my current employer. All of these traits and accomplishments shows
my willingness and capability at being a success at any field I choose.
